It has been said that human destiny depends upon the scope of a person’s or a people’s consciousness. That consciousness may be thought of as a vessel, capable of containing human potential. But over the past 2000 years, societies generally have not tolerated any growth of consciousness. One obvious reason for this is that the powerful and privileged have feared the loss of status. One would include in this group kings, emperors, czars, governors, senators, clergy, scientists, teachers, parents and merchants. The people of the status quo. Each of us is born into various systems of conditioning. For the first two decades of our lives, at least, we are subject to conventional thought, traditions, religions whose dispensations have long past, to scientific paradigms which have feared any passage beyond the material and strict rules of conduct. Squeaky wheels may get attention, but not the nurturing, encouraging kind. Our conditioning has been so complete that young men in their joy of youthful vitality have consented to be sent into war for the booty of others.

It has been written that each of us is given at birth, five imponderable gifts. The primary energy of life; the ability to think; consciousness; imagination and inspiration. But when in your life have any or all of these blessings been emphasized, encouraged, increased or become the subjects of gratitude?
